"STARRY PAINT stars of outer space by pure painting" by Japanese artist Masato Kobayashi is the second project at Tensta Konsthall, the autumn of 2004. For one month's time, Kobayashi will be working with a series of room related paintings, made on the site in a process open to the public. The paintings will then be exhibited for another two months after the artist has left.

Masato Kobayashi works site specific with symbolically loaded three-dimensional paintings, where the process becomes part of the motif. The process is made visible as an integrated part of the work and not just as an account of the process. All things constituting the painting can also be a part of it such as frame material, paint, tubes and canvas as well as the space in which the paintings are developed.

With "STARRY PAINT stars of outer space by pure painting" we, at Tensta Konsthall, continue to investigate the aesthetic process in relation to the conventional space of contemporary art. We see this project as a supplement to the aesthetics of the Swedish contemporary art scene. Kobayashi is an artist who questions
the aesthetics of painting and the space where it is displayed, and without a trace of irony talks about tubes connecting with the stars of outer space.
